Last Will and Testament of John Murray

John’s will was prepared, signed and witnessed in Melbourne on 16 September 1881, and recorded in the Court Books of the Commissariat of Edinburgh on 10 May 1905, after his death on 7 December 1904.

The document reads as follows:

The Last Will and Testament of John Murray of Prahran, Commercial Traveller.

Dated the 16th day of September AD 1881.

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Murray of Number Eight Thomas Street Windsor in the City of Prahran in the Colony of Victoria Commercial Traveller –

I give devise and bequeath All the property and money whatsoever of which I shall die possessed Unto my wife Emma Murray for her own sole use and benefit And I appoint my said wife sole executrix of this my will –

Dated the sixteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty one –

Signed by the said John Murray as his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto affixed our names as witnesses –
